'By sponsoring C.F. Os Balantas de Mansôa, we are investing in the passion for soccer and the transformative power of sports.' – Vancouver FC CEO
Clube de Futebol Os Balantas, based in Mansôa, Guinea-Bissau, was founded on September 18, 1946, by a group of Lebanese, Portuguese, Cape Verdean, and local businessmen. The club is named after the Balanta people, who predominantly inhabit the region.
As the 13th affiliate of Portugal's C.F. Os Belenenses, Os Balantas quickly established themselves in regional football. They clinched their first Provincial Championship in the 1959–1960 season, defeating C.F. Cantchungo 1-0, with Cipriano Dantas scoring the decisive goal. The club continued its dominance by securing consecutive championships in the following seasons.
After Guinea-Bissau's independence in 1973, Os Balantas became the nation's first champions in 1975. They have since amassed a total of four national championships (1975, 2006, 2009, 2013) and one SuperTaça Nacional title in 2006.
The club's home matches are held at Estádio Corca Sow in Mansôa, which has a capacity of 3,000 spectators. Throughout its history, Os Balantas has been a cornerstone of the local community, fostering talent and promoting the sport within the region.
This rich legacy underscores the significance of Vancouver F.C.'s sponsorship, aiming to further enhance the development and success of C.F. Os Balantas de Mansôa.
